The Director, Planning & Design leads the planning, design, and delivery of St. Luke’s capital construction projects, ensuring work remains aligned with strategic priorities, operational needs, and financial commitments. This role leads a team that provides oversight from early planning through construction closeout, establishing consistent delivery standards, managing risk, and ensuring projects are delivered within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
The Director builds strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders, and provides executive‑level communication on department performance, risks, and recommendations. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated leadership experience in construction project delivery in a healthcare setting, strong financial and strategic acumen, and the ability to align strategic, long-term vision with effective daily operations within a highly complex, regulated setting.
What You Can Expect:
- Advance system strategy by identifying and deploying design and construction best practices that strengthen St. Luke’s mission, vision, and long-range growth plans.
- Lead a high-performing, centralized planning and design function, ensuring consistent standards and efficient delivery across hospitals, ambulatory sites, and emerging care models.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with architects, engineers, contractors, and key stakeholders to support responsible growth across urban and rural markets.
- Drive innovation in healthcare design, advancing forward-thinking solutions that enhance patient-centered care, workforce well-being, and operational effectiveness.
- Provide executive oversight of capital construction and renovation projects, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, and compliance with approved plans and regulatory standards.
- Guide site selection and feasibility assessments to support thoughtful expansion and long-term sustainability across the state.
- Develop and implement comprehensive facility master plans, translating St. Luke’s strategic directives into aligned short- and long-term capital development goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Construction Management, Design/Architecture, Engineering preferred)
- 8 years' relevant experience (construction management/design in a healthcare environment preferred)
