Clinical Lead Pharmacist – Outpatient Pharmacy Services (Part-Time)
Location: St. Luke’s Health System – Boise Headquarters
Address: 800 Park Ave, Boise, Idaho
Employment Type: Part-Time (0.4 FTE)
Schedule: Two (2) administrative 8-hour days per week; schedule may vary based on departmental and site needs
Job Summary
The Clinical Lead Pharmacist – Outpatient Pharmacy Services provides clinical leadership and program support across outpatient pharmacy operations within St. Luke’s Health System. This role partners closely with clinical and operational pharmacy leadership to develop, implement, and optimize pharmacy services and medication use processes.
The Clinical Lead Pharmacist serves as a key contributor to department-level initiatives, supports staff development, and ensures standardization and compliance of clinical pharmacy practices across assigned sites.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Program Development & Optimization
- Collaborate within clinical pharmacy leadership structures to develop new clinical services and enhance existing programs
- Lead and support 1–2 major department-level initiatives at a time
- Optimize medication use processes to improve patient outcomes, safety, and operational efficiency
- Partner with pharmacy operational leaders to ensure effective implementation of clinical services
Leadership & Education
- Mentor and train pharmacists and pharmacy staff
- Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, clinical excellence, and professional development
Site & Program Responsibilities
- Function as a clinical lead, reporting to the Outpatient Pharmacy Clinical Program Coordinator
- Coordinate practice activities under the direction of clinical leadership
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate clinical system changes
- Ensure clinical standardization across outpatient pharmacy services
- Collaborate with site leadership to support FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation) compliance
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Degree from an accredited pharmacy program (PharmD or equivalent)
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmacist experience
- Residency or MBA may be considered in lieu of required experience
Licenses & Certifications
- Current Pharmacist License in the state of Idaho (or eligibility for licensure)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, ARC, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient or ambulatory pharmacy practice
- Prior involvement in clinical program development or quality improvement initiatives
- Experience precepting pharmacy students or residents
- Strong understanding of medication use systems and healthcare operations
