Manager, Pharmacy Inpatient & Infusion

Overview
St. Luke’s Health System is seeking a dynamic and clinically strong Manager, Pharmacy Inpatient & Infusion to lead pharmacy operations at Elmore Medical Center in Mountain Home, Idaho. This leader is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and effective preparation and distribution of medications across inpatient and infusion services.
This role provides operational oversight for a small hospital setting (<100 beds) and plays a critical part in advancing medication-use outcomes, regulatory compliance, and clinical pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Manager serves as both a strategic leader and hands-on clinician, supporting high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Clinical Leadership
- Provide day-to-day oversight of inpatient and infusion pharmacy operations.
- Ensure safe, accurate, and efficient preparation, verification, and distribution of medications.
- May function as a pharmacist in daily operations, performing clinical and dispensing duties as needed.
- Serve as a clinical mentor and provide leadership to pharmacists in patient care activities.
- Oversees long-term care (LTC) consulting services, including medication regimen reviews and regulatory compliance.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians.
- Select, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Provide ongoing education, training, and performance feedback.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.
- Maintain adherence to medication safety practices and regulatory requirements.
Strategy, Finance & Operations
- Assist in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures.
- Develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets effectively.
- Lead initiatives to improve medication-use outcomes through clinical services, staffing optimization, and technology.
- Coordinate implementation of strategic goals, projects, and programs impacting pharmacy services.
Collaboration & System Integration
- Partner with hospital leadership to optimize pharmacy services and patient care delivery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
- Participate in system-wide initiatives aligned with St. Luke’s Health System goals.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree from an accredited pharmacy program (PharmD or equivalent required)
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy experience
- Leadership experience preferred
- MBA or completion of a Pharmacy Residency may substitute for 2 years of experience
Licenses/Certifications
- Current Pharmacist License in the state of Idaho (or eligibility for licensure)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through:
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- American Safety and Health Institute
