Oncology Infusion Pharmacist
St. Luke’s Cancer Institute – Boise, Idaho
Full-Time | Onsite | Clinical Role
Overview
St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Boise, Idaho is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Oncology Infusion Pharmacist to join our growing oncology pharmacy team. This position provides clinical and operational pharmacy services within the oncology infusion setting, supporting safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use for cancer patients.
This role is ideal for pharmacists seeking to enter oncology practice. No prior oncology experience is required — comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
• Review and verify chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care medication orders.
• Ensure safe and appropriate dosing based on protocol, diagnosis, laboratory values, and patient-specific factors.
• Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide drug information and patient counseling related to oncology therapies.
• Monitor for adverse drug reactions and contribute to supportive care management.
• Participate in clinical care discussions and treatment planning.
Operational Responsibilities
• Verify sterile compounded preparations in accordance with USP <797> and <800> standards.
• Support safe handling and disposal of hazardous medications.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
• Participate in workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives.
• Utilize EPIC/Willow and other pharmacy systems to support clinical documentation and medication safety.
Quality & Professional Development
• Participate in quality assurance and medication safety initiatives.
• Contribute to departmental performance improvement efforts.
• Engage in ongoing education to build oncology knowledge and clinical expertise.
• Maintain competency in infusion pharmacy practice.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
• Degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
Experience
• No prior oncology experience required.
• New graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Pharmacy residency or oncology exposure preferred but not required.
Licensure & Certification
• Valid Pharmacist License in the state of Idaho (or eligibility to obtain).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification through:
- American Safety & Health Institute
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
