The Respiratory Therapist Lead –Registered (RRT) treats individuals with health care issues affecting the cardiopulmonary system.
What You Can Expect
- Initiates assessment based on the patient's presenting problems or needs and the physician's medical diagnosis. Completes ongoing assessments according to policy and/or as determined by patient condition.- Performs basic and advanced therapeutic interventions.
- Determines the impact of interventions on the patient's condition and recognize the patient's progress toward meeting desired outcomes.
- Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
- Involves patient, family and/or other significant individuals in care decisions and in learning self-care skills preparing for transfer to subsequent care environments.
- Coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.
- Shares essential information, through documentation and oral communication, with healthcare team members and other customers common to the unit/area(s) of assignment.
- Responsible for training or assignment of training; serves as a role model and mentor to new and less experienced staff and students in health professions; may perform or coordinate the primary preceptor role in the training of students and peers.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Accredited program in alignment with licensure requirements
- Experience: Three (3) years' relevant experience
- License/Certifications:
- Valid license to practice respiratory therapy in state of practice.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials by National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
