The Respiratory Therapist Lead –Registered (RRT) treats individuals with health care issues affecting the cardiopulmonary system.

What You Can Expect

• Initiates assessment based on the patient's presenting problems or needs and the physician's medical diagnosis. Completes ongoing assessments according to policy and/or as determined by patient condition.- Performs basic and advanced therapeutic interventions.
• Determines the impact of interventions on the patient's condition and recognize the patient's progress toward meeting desired outcomes.
• Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
• Involves patient, family and/or other significant individuals in care decisions and in learning self-care skills preparing for transfer to subsequent care environments.
• Coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.
• Shares essential information, through documentation and oral communication, with healthcare team members and other customers common to the unit/area(s) of assignment.
• Responsible for training or assignment of training; serves as a role model and mentor to new and less experienced staff and students in health professions; may perform or coordinate the primary preceptor role in the training of students and peers.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Accredited program in alignment with licensure requirements
• Experience: Three (3) years' relevant experience
• License/Certifications: 
  • Valid license to practice respiratory therapy in state of practice. 
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials by National Board for Respiratory Care. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
