Description & Requirements
Under direct supervision, the System Analyst 1 supports clinical and business operations by maintaining, enhancing, and supporting information systems used across Surgical Services and Clinical Learning and Student Services (CLaSS).
The analyst will be responsible for day-to-day support, maintenance, and optimization of several ancillary applications, while also supporting Epic perioperative modules. This position includes participation in a shared on-call rotation and requires close collaboration with clinical, operational, and technical partners to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient application performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide application support and system maintenance for ancillary applications used within Surgical Services across the health system.
- Perform routine system administration activities including:
- Server maintenance and monitoring
- Cybersecurity risk mitigation activities
- New server builds, deployments, and upgrades in alignment with organizational standards
- Participate in the build, configuration, and optimization of applications to support new and improved clinical and operational workflows.
- Support Epic perioperative applications used by the team, including:
- OpTime
- Anesthesia
- Lumens
- Obtain and maintain Epic certification in at least one supported module (OpTime, Anesthesia, or Lumens). Certification will be supported as part of onboarding if not already held.
- Collaborate in testing, validation, and implementation activities to ensure system stability, usability, and end-user acceptance.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application and workflow issues; assess issue severity and escalate appropriately when needed.
- Provide support to end users for workflow, access, and application issues that cannot be resolved by the Help Desk.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (one week approximately every seven weeks) as part of the team’s 24x7x365 application support model.
- Deliver end-user training and create or maintain documentation for support, workflows, and system changes.
- Coordinate work with vendors, other IHT teams, cybersecurity partners, and operational stakeholders.
- Communicate system impacts, risks, progress, and opportunities clearly to clinical and technical stakeholders.
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure the safety, security, and integrity of information systems and data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to healthcare clinical workflows, particularly perioperative or surgical services.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications, servers, or clinical systems.
- Familiarity with change management, incident management, or IT service management practices.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to work effectively with clinical end users.
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation providing application support.
- Willingness to learn complex clinical workflows and technical systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment spanning multiple application domains.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree or experience in lieu of degree
- Experience: Entry-level position; prior healthcare, healthcre IT, application support, or technical experience is helpful but not required.
- Licenses/Certifications: None
- Epic certification in OpTime, Anesthesia, or Lumens required within a defined onboarding timeframe (training and certification support provided).
