The Medical Laboratory Technician Senior is responsible for performing complex tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Handles complex issues and problems and possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Relies on experience and judgment to plan work and accomplish goals as demonstrated by their flexibility and critical thinking within established processes and departmental procedures. The Medical Laboratory Technician Senior also serves as a mentor and resource for the team, providing training and technical guidance to lower-level staff while contributing to process improvements and high standards of patient care.

* Performs tests on specimens in an accurate, organized and prioritized manner following laboratory procedures and policies to ensure quality and time guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements. May serve as a subject matter expert for more complex procedures.

* Collects a variety of specimens as required by specific section needs, with skill and sensitivity to needs of the patient.

* Ensures specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled and stored.

* Performs instrument maintenance according to section procedures.

* Independently perform advance and/or more complex Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, and Delta Checks on laboratory equipment.

* Maintains inventory of supplies.

* Follows department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation.

* Ensures input is accurate and complete.

* Maintains a safe and clean working environment.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate of Science or completion of an official military medical laboratory training course + 4 years MLT experience.

  - Experience: 2 years of experience.

  - Certification: Medical Lab Technician (ASCP_MLT or AMT_MLT).
