Description & Requirements

At St. Luke’s Health System, our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) play a critical role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care while supporting a collaborative, patient-centered hospital environment. In this role, you will often be the first-person patients and families interact with, setting the tone for a welcoming, respectful, and supportive care experience.

This position primarily supports the Medical-Surgical unit in Wood River and also provides flexible coverage across other inpatient and procedural areas, including Mother Baby and the Emergency Department (ED). The role blends direct patient care with unit coordination and administrative support, making it an excellent opportunity for highly motivated CNAs seeking to broaden their clinical exposure and professional skill set.

What You Can Expect from This Role

  • Consistent day shift schedule: five 8-hour shifts, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Primary assignment to Med/Surg, with opportunities to support Mother Baby and ED
  • Combination of hands-on CNA care and unit coordinator/administrative duties
  • Meaningful work supporting patients, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
  • A supportive, collaborative environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality care to Medical-Surgical patients
  • Serve as a welcoming presence for patients and families, helping set expectations and provide direction
  • Support patient care needs across Mother Baby and Emergency Department, as assigned
  • Assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and patient comfort
  • Answer unit phones and communicate effectively with staff and providers
  • Support unit operations, including supply ordering and coordination
  • Partner closely with nurses and care teams to support patient flow and staffing needs
  • Promote patient safety, dignity, and a positive care experience at all times

Qualifications

  • Current CNA certification (state requirements apply)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
